A national model almost nobody draws. IMGW-PIB runs COSMO at 2.8 km over Poland, four times a day, hourly to T+60, and publishes the whole thing as GRIB without a key — the legal basis being Poland's open data act of 2021 and Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/138, which makes meteorological model output a high-value dataset that must be free, in bulk and openly licensed. IMGW complies with it properly, and this site exists because almost nobody outside the institute renders the result.

The headline fields come off the model levels, not the surface. The feed carries temperature and wind on fifty hybrid levels, so this site can publish the low-level inversion Polish winter smog forms under, a smog index built from it, and the halny — the downslope wind off the Tatras. No other public forecast site for Poland has these.

The radar is on the model's frame. POLRAD's own composite is azimuthal-equidistant; the ingest warps it onto the same box the models are drawn in, so a reader can put the last five minutes of reality over the next hour of forecast and the map does not move between them.

Absolute colour scales, and a value under every pixel. Ramps are pinned to real numbers, so a loop shows intensity changing rather than a palette re-fitting itself each frame. The frames are palettised PNGs and the catalog ships the same table, so hovering reads the colour back to a number without fetching anything extra.
